Jorge’s laboratory focuses on the fungal pathogen Aspergillus fumigatus. His research primarily explores sulfur metabolism, the characterization of novel antifungal targets, and the mechanisms underlying antifungal tolerance, persistence, and resistance evolution. Additionally, his work aims to develop innovative antifungal strategies.

Beyond his research, Jorge contributes to the Centre’s Reference mission by supporting various diagnostic methods offered by the institution.
